Exterior Painting Services

Omaha's Brutal Weather Doesn't Hold Back — Neither Should Your Paint.

Scorching summers nearing 100°F, freezing winters plunging below zero, hailstorms, relentless winds, and intense UV rays all attack your home's exterior. Once the paint fails, moisture sneaks in — leading to wood rot, mildew, peeling, and expensive structural damage that costs far more than a quality paint job ever would.

At Great Plains Painting, we protect Omaha homes the right way. We expertly paint siding, trim, fascia, soffits, doors, shutters, garage doors, gutters, downspouts, decks, and fences.

We handle every surface: vinyl, wood, fiber cement, aluminum, stucco, brick, and metal. Whether you own a classic 1960s ranch in Millard or a brand-new build in Elkhorn, we tailor our process to your home's specific materials and Omaha's tough conditions.

Sherwin-WilliamsPreferred Contractor

Premium paint makes a difference you can see for years

As a Sherwin-Williams preferred contractor, we get volume pricing on their best exterior products and pass those savings to you. We recommend Duration or Emerald Exterior for most projects because they have the best combination of durability, coverage, and color retention available.

Duration is rated for up to 15 years on properly prepared surfaces, resisting cracking, peeling, and blistering even in Nebraska's extreme temperature swings. It also has a self-priming formula that reduces coats on repaint jobs, saving time and money without cutting corners.

Surfaces We Paint

Every siding type requires a different approach

Vinyl Siding

Yes, vinyl can be painted. The key is using a paint formulated for vinyl expansion and contraction, like Sherwin-Williams VinylSafe colors. We also never go darker than the original color to prevent heat warping. Many older Omaha homes have faded vinyl that looks brand new after painting.

Wood Lap Siding

Wood requires the most prep but gives the best finish when done right. We check moisture content, repair or replace rotted boards, prime all bare wood with oil-based primer, and apply two coats of acrylic latex. Wood homes in Dundee, Benson, and older Midtown neighborhoods are our specialty.

Fiber Cement (Hardie Board)

James Hardie siding is common in newer Elkhorn and West Omaha construction. It holds paint well but needs proper priming on cut edges and nail heads. We use bonding primer on all repairs and touch-ups, then two coats of premium latex for a factory-like finish.

Stucco & Brick

Masonry surfaces need breathable paint that allows moisture vapor to escape. We use elastomeric coatings on stucco to bridge hairline cracks, and mineral-based paint on brick to prevent peeling. These surfaces can last 20+ years between paintings with the right products.
